A man is arrested for murdering his wife, only he was not home at the time of the murder, but no one will confirm his alibi. His secretary, who is secretly in love with him, attempts to prove his innocence. Robert Siodmak's first Hollywood noir. The first film produced by Joan Harrison, a former Oscar-nominated screenwriter for Alfred Hitchcock ("Rebecca," "Foreign Correspondent") and Universal's first woman executive.

Set in Manhattan, New York.
