A young fishmonger's daughter discovers she's pregnant, with little chance of marriage to the father, who has departed overseas for a sailor's life. The second film in director Marc Allegret's delicate, lyrical Marseillaise trilogy, preceded by "Marius" (1931) and followed by "Cesar" (1936).
Set and shot on location in Marseille.
