Gary Null (photographer)

N.p. NBC, 1966. Vintage photograph of Joey Heatherton dancing with an unidentified soldier, Bob Hope, golf club in hand, in background, during Hope's 1966 USO Christmas Tour in South Vietnam. Mimeo snipe on verso, humorously stating "Joey Heatherton conducting a deep-breathing exercise." "Dec 22 1966" stamp on verso.

Hope was joined by Heatherton and Phyllis Diller during his 1966 USO Christmas Tour in Vietnam. Hope's humor during the tour reflected some of the changing attitudes of the US in 1966, joking with soldiers perched on tall poles at the beginning of one show "How did you get up there? LSD?," and reassuring the troops "the country is behind you 50 percent."

8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus with corner creasing, a small closed tear to right side, repaired on verso with cello tape and faint yellow discoloration along top.
