Perhaps the apex of Ms. Cardinale's career, and one of a handful of examples of Burt Lancaster's willingness to take on literate, complex roles.

Nominated for an Academy Award. Winner of the Palme d'Or.

Shot on location in Rome, Lazio, and Sicily, Italy.
