Based on the 1958 novel by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa. Visconti's classic, spacious homage to the quiet death of the Sicilian aristocracy of the mid-nineteenth century, one of the great films of Italian cinema. Winner of the Palme d'Or.
