Raising Arizona

Joel Coen (director, screenwriter)
Melinda Sue Gorddon (photographer)
Ethan Coen (screenwriter)
Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, John Goodman (starring)

Los Angeles: Twentieth Century-Fox, 1987. Vintage reference photograph of Joel Coen behind the camera on the set of the 1987 film.

Joel and Ethan Coen's slapstick, madcap second film was as far removed from their first, the 1984 neo-noir "Blood Simple," as is conceivable, but equally as brilliant, firmly establishing them as one of the most distinctive filmmakers to come out of the 1980s.

Recidivist criminal H.I. (Nicolas Cage) and police officer Ed (Holly Hunter) fall in love over time as Ed photographs H.I.'s many mugshots. The couple marry but can't have children, and when they hear about the famous "Arizona Quints," they figure the family can spare one.

Featuring one of the most memorable chase sequences in film history.

Shot on location throughout Arizona.

8 x 10 inches. Very faint dampstaining to top margin, else Near Fine.
