N.p. N.p., 1923-1931. Archive of 192 vintage vernacular photographs of a group of friends in Illinois, taken by a young woman, dated variously between 1923 and 1931, housed in a red leatherbound album. Many photographs with manuscript ink annotations to the album pages, identifying subjects and providing captions, although many are not captioned.
The album captures a group of young men and women throughout their early adulthood, with captions noting locations in Quincy and Kinderhook, Illinois, as well as many shots of vacations, fishing trips, and picnics in Portland and Rockaway Beach, Oregon, on Puget Island, Washington, and numerous unnamed natural locations throughout the mid- and southwest. As a whole the photographs are clear and well-shot, with a fine eye for detail. A playful, intimate look into a young woman's social life in the early twentieth century.
