Original photograph of Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, June Havoc, Evelyn Keyes, and Danny Kaye on the way to a HUAC hearing, 1947

New York: International News Photos, 1947. Vintage black and white photograph of actors Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, June Havoc, Evelyn Keyes, and Danny Kaye en route to a House Un-American Activities Committee hearing in 1947. With a printed mimeo snipe affixed to the verso, along with the stamp of International News Photos.

Bogart helped organize the Committee for the First Amendment (CFA), an action group which attended the HUAC hearings in support of the Hollywood Ten, and which included Lucille Ball, Myrna Loy, John Huston, William Wyler, Bette Davis, Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Billy Wilder, and Lena Horne, among many others. The group's involvement ultimately proved ineffective, and placed its members under threat of being called before the courts under suspicion of communism themselves.

8.5 x 6.5 inches. Very Good overall.
