The band began the "Tusk" Tour on October 26, 1979, at the Minidome in Pocatello, Idaho, traveling to twelve countries before completing the tour on September 1, 1980, at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. According to Christine McVie, the duration, excessive expense, and physically demanding nature of the tour nearly broke up the group, compounded by heavy alcohol and drug use by most of the band members.
