Based on screenwriter Imre Lazar's 1980 book "Der Fall Horst Wessel" ("The Horst Wessel Case"), about a Nazi stormtrooper who was killed by two Communists in 1930, and whose death was subsequently used by Joseph Goebbels as a propaganda symbol for the Nazi party.

Set in Germany.
