Archive of 30 original photographs documenting two motorcycle trips through the American west, 1944-1945
N.p. N.p., 1944-1945. Archive of 30 vintage matte-finish photographs documenting two motorcycle trips through the American west. Typed captions along the upper margins of the rectos, with the stamp of processing lab Yale Camera Exchange on the verso.
The photographs appear to have been taken over the course of two trips, with views of Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, California, and Texas. One photograph noted as having been taken in the Rocky Mountains shows three motorcycles in the frame. two with riders and one without, suggesting that at least one of the trips was made in a group. Although the photographer's motorcycle, a 1940s Indian Chief, appears in the frame of five photographs, the balance appear to have been taken from astride the motorcycle, capturing expansive landscape shots of the West. An evocative and beautiful collection of photographs of World War II-era western America.
Photographs ranging from 4.5 x 3.25 inches to 5.5 x 4 inches. Near Fine.
