The winning chorus would go on to represent San Francisco at the California Chorus Contest at the Hollywood Bowl on July 29, 1929. The concert featured performances by noted African American actors Naomi McCullough-Pharr and George Jones, singing songs from the 1929 film, Hearts in Dixie—Hollywood’s first film with an all African American cast.
