Reed performed at Studio 54 shortly before embarking on a European tour to promote his twelfth solo studio album, "Legendary Hearts." Quarrels with guitarist Robert Quine (just visible along the right edge of the photograph) led Reed to mix down, or in some cases remove entirely, Quine's guitar parts on the album.
