Devil's Island

Burbank, CA: Warner Brothers, 1938. Final Draft script for the 1939 film, copy belonging to director William Clemens, with his name faintly visible on the well-worn front wrapper, and with annotations in holograph pencil on every page except two, as well as many of the versos. Although the front wrapper and registration page identify the script as "Part I," the script presented here is the complete Final Draft.

Boris Karloff stars as Dr. Charles Gaudet, a well-respected surgeon sentenced to ten years on Devil's Island for treating a wounded revolutionary, and incurs the wrath of the brutish commander for speaking out against the inhumane conditions.
