Two original photographs of Lou Reed, circa 1974

N.p. N.p., Circa 1974. Two vintage photographs of Lou Reed, circa 1974, each with a stamp crediting photographer Joe Rella on the verso.

Lou Reed is pictured in performance donning his platinum blonde hair, likely during the tour in support of his fourth solo album, the critically panned but highest US charting album, "Sally Can't Dance" (1974). Following the success of "Sally Can't Dance," Reed was pressured by RCA Records for a rapid follow-up album, and his unsurprising response was the experimental "Metal Machine Music" (1975), an hour of modulated feedback and guitar noise effects, which to this day finds a divided audience of lovers and haters.
