Original ribbon copy typescript letter, signed by Erle Stanley Gardner, on Gardner's letterhead, dated October 5, 1959, to author Veronica Parker Johns of the Mystery Writers of America, Inc. (MWA). The letter, written in response to one from Johns, regards a questionnaire Johns sent to various public figures regarding mystery stories for the MWA's 1959 Festival of Mysteries, which apparently went largely unanswered, to which Gardner suggests writing ex-President Harry S. Truman, a fan of mystery stories.
