Early twentieth century rubber baron Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald funds his dream to build an opera house in the Peruvian Amazon by hauling a huge river boat laden with rubber across a mountain. Werner Herzog's astonishing, outrageous, and downright insane masterpiece, the subject of Les Blank's remarkable documentary "Burden of Dreams" (1982).
Set and shot on location in Peru and Brazil.
