Film Comment magazine was founded in 1962 and publishes on avant-garde and mainstream film. It is the official publication of Film at Lincoln Center, known during the publication of these issues as the Film Society of Lincoln Center, an organization that highlights American cinema and supports new up and coming filmmakers. Some filmmakers they have supported include Francois Truffant, Jean-Luc Godard, Pedro Almodovar and Martin Scorcese.
