Based on the 1948 novel by Horace McCoy, about a repeat offender's violent escape from a prison work camp. Banned in Ohio for its brutality and extreme depiction of violent crime, the film was the first of four movies the Cagney brothers made for Warner Brothers.
Shot on location in Chino and Glendale.
