True Stories
Burbank, CA: Warner Brothers, 1986. Collection of twelve vintage color slides from the 1986 film. Five with annotations in manuscript ink on the cardboard sleeves, and a printed Dutch photo agency label affixed to the plastic sleeve holding the slides.
A series of vignettes about the goings-on in the fictional Texan town of Virgil, whose inhabitants are preparing for a large celebration in honor of the 150th anniversary of Texas' independence. A passion project for David Byrne, poorly received at the time of its release but today considered a cult classic, largely funded on the strength of Jonathan Demme's successful 1984 concert film "Stop Making Sense," with much of the film's soundtrack supplied by Talking Heads.
Shot on location throughout Texas, in Dallas, Mesquite, Midlothian, Red Oak, Allen, and McKinney.
Slides 1.25 x 1 inches, in cardboard sleeves measuring 2 x 2 inches. About Near Fine.
