Original photograph of Mia Farrow with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, 1968

Mia Farrow, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (subjects)

New York: Unipix, 1968. Vintage press photograph of actress Mia Farrow with her then spiritual guru, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, on January 23, 1968, shortly prior to departing together with Farrow's sister Prudence for a trip to the guru's retreat in Rishikesh, India. Mimeo snipe affixed to the verso.

Mia and Prudence would be joined at the retreat by the Beatles, who would write the song "Dear Prudence" about their experiences with the latter. The Fab Four would later disavow the Maharishi after rumors circulated of sexual improprieties with Mia and other women in the guru's ashram.

From the archive of the PIX Agency, an American photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969.

10 x 8 inches, archivally mounted in a white mat measuring 14 x 11 inches. Near Fine.
