Based on the 1956 novel "The Authentic Death of Hendry Jones" by Charles Neider. Marlon Brando's only directorial effort, after his production company fired original screenwriter Sam Peckinpah and director Stanley Kubrick, and he rewrote the script, first with Calder Willingham, then with Guy Tropser.
From the archive of the PIX Agency, an American photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969.
