Kennedy had been shot in Dallas—with his wife and Jackie Kennedy still in shock at his side. Mimeo snipe and the stamp of the San Francisco Examiner reference library dated November 23, 1963, are both on the verso. A remarkable artifact, physically tied to one of the most powerful moments in US history.

Johnson was sworn in aboard Air Force One at Dallas Love Field, just over an hour after John F. Kennedy's death was announced at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

From the archive of the PIX Agency, an American photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969.
