N.p. N.p., Circa 1949. Vintage photograph of dancer José Limón working on a new piece with composer Norman Lloyd at the piano, circa 1949. Two printed mimeo snipes and PIX agency stamp on the verso, the latter crediting photographer "Koner"—possibly Limón's frequent collaborator Pauline Koner.
Lloyd and Limón collaborated on "La Malinche," a three-part piece dramatizing the life of the Mexican historical figure Marina Malintzin, a Nahua interpreter and advisor to Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés.
From the archive of the PIX Agency, an American photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969.
