Oldenberg is best remembered today for his large-scale public commissions, including "Lipstick (Ascending) on Caterpillar Tracks" (1969, located at Yale University) and "Typewriter Eraser, Scale X" (1999, located at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden).

From the archive of the PIX Agency, an American photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969.
