Heroes of Aviation

Boston: Little Brown, 1927. New Revised and Enlarged Edition, published June 1927 (the first printing was in March 1927). INSCRIBED by the author on the front endpaper in the year of publication to US military officer and politician Benedict Crowell: "Benedict Crowell / With the respect and affection of the author / Laurence La T Driggs / New York / July 20 1927."

Crowell was a particularly influential in military organization during and following World War I, and was the United States Assistant Secretary of War from 1917 to 1920.

A comprehensive and enthusiastic review of WWI aviation heroes from the US, the UK, and Western Europe, by an author who in 1918 "visited practically every aeroplane squadron on the battle front, from Belgium to Switzerland."

Tape shadows (from an owner, not a library) on the endpapers, a touch of black staining from an old jacket protector at the top edge of the front endpaper. Else Near Fine in a Very Good plus dust jacket with a few tiny chips at the corners and some rubbing at the flap folds. An attractive copy.
