Based on Maurice Renard's 1920 novel "Les Mains d'Orlac" ("The Hands of Orlac"). After a train accident destroys his hands, a pianist seeks the help of bizarre Doctor Gogol, who is secretly obsessed with the pianist's beautiful wife. Although poorly received upon release, the film has since been reconsidered as a cult classic.
