One of only a short run of highly-regarded films released by Warner Brothers-Seven Arts between 1967 and 1969. Rare in this size format.
Loosely based on the early sixteenth century novella "Belfagor arcidiavolo" by Niccolò Machiavelli. Vittorio Gassman stars as Belfagor, a devil sent back to earth to stoke a war between Rome and Florence in medieval Italy to bolster the number of hell's incoming souls, but quickly becomes distracted by amorous feelings for the beautiful Claudine Auger, as the Maddalena de'Medici. Starring Mickey Rooney as Adramalek, a Puckish demon invisible to everyone but Belfagor.
Set in and shot on location in Tuscany, Sicily, and Rome, Italy.
118.5 x 24 inches. Light rubbing and edgewear, else Near Fine. Bright and unfaded. Note: The fluorescent orange color can not be reproduced in a photograph and is a much brighter orange than depicted in the image.
