Based on Larry McMurtry's 1966 semi-autobiographical novel, following the everyday lives of three directionless teenagers in a small, lonely Texan town. Peter Bogdanovich's directorial breakthrough, one of the defining films about Texas and the American Southwest, shot in black-and-white on location in Archer City, Texas. Winner of two Academy Awards for actors Ben Johnson and Cloris Leachman, and nominated for another six.
