After the American Civil War, a pair of mercenaries travel with a wealthy countess to the harbor at Vera Cruz, promising to protect a large shipment of gold she has been tasked with bringing to Emperor Maximilian. A Spaghetti Western antecedent, and one of the first Hollywood films to be shot entirely on location in Mexico.
