Eighteen ballads about folk hero Robin Hood, alongside detailed black-and-white illustrations by Burton. Burton's illustrations received a 1948 Caldecott Honor.

Virginia Lee Burton, also known by her married name Virginia Demetrios, wrote and illustrated seven children's books, including "The Little House" (1943), which won the Caldecott Medal. Burton also founded the Folly Cove textile collective in Cape Ann, Massachusetts.

Near Fine in a Very Good plus dust jacket. Light foxing on the bottom edge of the rear panel, with a small chip at the top edge of the same.
