A satirical crime film written and directed by legendary, controversial animator Ralph Bakshi, blending live action and animation, about three anthropomorphic "Uncle Remus" characters—Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox, and Br'er Bear—who rise to the top of a crime syndicate in Harlem. Originally subjected to widespread protest due to its provocative racial content, and subsequently given a limited release by Bryanston, the film has since been reevaluated and is today considered Bakshi's masterpiece.
