America 2-Night [Tonight]

N.p. N.p., Circa 1978. Collection of ten original unproduced segment screenplays for the 1978 syndicated television series, all ribbon typescript copies, four to eight pages each, many with manuscript white-out annotations throughout.

From the collection of screenwriter Stephen Sustarsic wrote frequently for sitcom television throughout the 1980s and 1990s, most memorably for the television series "Alice" (1976-1985) and "The Jeffersons" (1975-1985). Sustarsic was also one of the creators of the children's animated series "The Wild Thornberrys" (1998-2004).

The subjects of the unproduced segments in the collection found here include: corrupt Mayor Jerry Black, UFO abductee Walter Pemberton, animal psychiatrist Dr. Wolfe, IRS investigator Jack Creddle, efficiency expert Peter Frimwell, gambling addict Father Cardwell, 123-year-old Abe Wallingford, head of the government agency "Big Ugly Germs" (BUG), Dr. Warber, head of the Committee Reaching for Advancement of Programs In Television (CRAP-IT), Mr. Peterson, and psychiatrist Dr. Nerb.

The continuation of the groundbreaking 1977 talk-show parody series "Fernwood Tonight," created by Norman Lear, in which Martin Mull and Fred Willard starred as small-town talk show host Barth Gimble and sidekick Jerry Hubbard.
