Twentieth Century Pictures and Fox Film Corporation merged in 1935. Production chief Darryl F. Zanuck signed a suite of fresh-faced stars in the ensuing years to help buoy the then-fledgling studio, including Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell, Carmen Miranda, Henry Fonda, Gene Tierney, Betty Grable, and Shirley Temple.
