From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.
After landing a contract with Warner Brothers in 1929, at the age of 16, Marian Marsh starred in several uncredited bit parts, most notably in Howard Hughes' 1930 film "Hells Angels." She was personally chosen by actor John Barrymore to costar in the 1931 film "Svengali," and was awarded the title of WAMPAS Baby Star later that year. Marsh retired from film acting in the early 1940s, appearing occasionally in television series in the 1950s.
