Two original publicity photographs of Donald O'Connor

Donald O'Connor (subject)

Universal City: Universal Pictures, 1944-1945. Two vintage publicity photographs of teenage actor and singer Donald O'Connor, dated 1944 and 1945.

Born into a vaudeville family, O'Connor made his Hollywood break with Universal in the early 1940s, largely appearing as a fast-talking, wisecracking teenager in film musicals. He is today best remembered for his dance routine in "Singin' in the Rain" (1952), for which he received a Golden Globe.

From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.
