A dramatization of the experiences of the crew of a Canadian naval vessel during World War II, focusing in particular on the ship's captain, who lost his previous ship and many men to a German torpedo. The film debut of actress Ella Raines, who was discovered and signed virtually on sight by producer Howard Hawks during a theatre production at the University of Washington.
From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.
