From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.
Canadian born actress Katherine DeMille was the adopted daughter of director Cecil B. DeMille, and starred in 25 credited film roles between 1930 to 1949. An exotic, dark beauty, she was considered Hollywood royalty, and made her debut opposite Wallace Beery in the 1934 film "Viva Villa!" Her notable performances include "Drift Fence" (1936), "Sky Parade" (1936), "Banjo on My Knee" (1936), "Charlie Chan at the Olympics" (1937), and "Trapped in the Sky" (1939). DeMille retired from acting for several years following the accidental death of her firstborn son in 1941, and made a comeback in the films "Black Gold" (1947), "Unconquered" (1947), and "The Judge" (1949).
