By the 1940s, Stanwyck was Hollywood's highest-paid actress, and was at the height of her cinematic powers, appearing in a string of now-beloved films, including "The Lady Eve" (1941), "Ball of Fire" (1941), "Double Indemnity" (1944), "Christmas in Connecticut" (1945), "Sorry, Wrong Number" (1948), and "The Furies" (1950).
From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.
