From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.
Joy Hodges was a noted actress and singer who performed on film, Broadway, radio, television, and with big bands. Her Hollywood acting career lasted only 5 years, from 1935-1940, in which she appeared in 16 films, most notably "Old Man Rhythm" (1935), "They Asked for It" (1939), and "Laughing at Danger" (1940). She is perhaps better remembered for her Broadway performances, which include "I'd Rather Be Right" (1937), "Dream with Music" (1943), "The Odds on Mrs. Oakley" (1944), and "Nellie Bly" (1945), as well as her famous six-decade long friendship with Ronald Reagan.
