Silvianna Goldsmith created a number of short films that linked femininity, nature, and violence, including "The Transformation of Persephone" (1973) and "Orpheus Underground" (1975). Her work frequently blended art and revolution, and accordingly, Goldsmith co-founded a number of activist groups throughout the late 1960s and 1970s, including a street theatre troupe called X, and the group Women Artists in Revolution, an offshoot of the Art Workers Coalition. She was also a member of the Guerrilla Art Action Group, and was one of the four activists in the organization's now legendary 1969 action at the Museum of Modern Art, protesting the museum's ties to the war profiteering Rockefeller family.
