Copy belonging to production manager Peter Manley, with his name on a label affixed to the front wrapper, and his extensive annotations in manuscript ink and pencil throughout the script. Laid in with the script are three manuscript leaves, a printed unit list and director's memo, and an additional revision page for page 27.
Based on the 1975 novel by Ruth Prawer Jhabvala. In the 1980s, an English woman travels to India to discover more about the life of her great-aunt, who traveled to British India in the 1920s and had an affair with a married Indian man. Nominated for the Palme d'Or.
Brown titled Studio Duplicating Service wrappers. Title page present, undated, with credit for Jhabvala. 179 leaves, with last page of text numbered 149. Mimeograph duplication, rectos only, with undated pink and beige revision pages both stapled to cancelland pages and laid in throughout the script. Pages Very Good plus, wrapper Very Good plus, bound with two gold brads.
