Universal City: Universal Studios / Mirisch, Circa 1979. Archive of material from the 1979 film, including a final script and a wealth of production documents. Archive belonging to uncredited costuming crew member Jane Hamilton, with her name in manuscript ink on several leaves.
Archive includes a map, additional revision pages, shooting schedules, contact sheets, transport and lodging information, and call sheets, as well as Hamilton's extensive manuscript material relating to costuming, fittings, and actor measurements.
Based on the 1894 adventure novel by Anthony Hope. The sixth adaptation of Hope's classic story, with Peter Sellers starring in a triple role as the king of Ruritania, the king's father, and the cab driver enlisted to stand in for the king during the coronation. Soundtrack by Henry Mancini.
Set in the fictional land of Ruritania, and shot on location in Austria.
Script and production documents housed together in a black three-ring binder. Brown untitled front wrapper with a die-cut title window in the British style. Title page present, noted as Final Screenplay and production No. 02106, undated, with credits for screenwriters Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais. 124 leaves, with last page of text numbered 117. Xerographic duplication, rectos only, with pink and blue revision pages throughout, dated variously between August 3 and July 25, 1978. Pages Very Good plus, wrapper Very Good plus.
