Universal City: Universal Pictures, 1940-1941. Three vintage publicity photographs of Jean Brooks, née Kelly, one of which is a keybook photograph, all shot by photographer Ray Jones, 1940-1941. All three photographs with studio stamps crediting Jones and mimeo snipes on the versos. Brooks is referred to here as Jean Kelly, her adopted stage name until her 1941 marriage to director Richard Brooks.

From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.

Actress and singer Jean Brooks was a popular contract player for RKO Radio Pictures in the 1940s, and starred in over 40 films beginning in 1935 until she abandoned acting in 1948. She is perhaps best known for her performances in the film serials "Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe" (1940) and "The Green Hornet Strikes Again!" (1941), and the films "The Leopard Man" (1943), "The Seventh Victim" (1943), and "Youth Runs Wild" (1944).
