From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.
Based on the gentleman thief character, Arsène Lupin, who was featured in 17 novels and 39 novellas by French author Maurice Leblanc. Charles Korvin stars as Lupin, a French jewel thief who robs and falls in love with an heiress, played by Ella Raines.
Korvin famously refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) and was blacklisted in 1952, after which Korvin worked primarily in broadcast television.
