Three original publicity photographs of Mischa Auer and Joy Hodges

Universal City: Universal Studios, 1939. Three vintage publicity photographs of actors Mischa Auer and Joy Hodges, respectively, including two dramatizing their (honorary) Universal City mayoral campaigns, and one showing Auer after winning the "election," accompanied by Studio City mayor Hugh Herbert, pinning a badge of authority onto Hodges, his newly appointed "chief of police."

Printed mimeo snipes affixed to the versos of all three photographs, two noting Auer and Hodges' forthcoming appearances in the 1939 film "East Side of Heaven."

From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.
