From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.
Winner of the Miss California title in 1936, and the first runner-up of the 1936 Miss America pageant, Phyllis Ludwig, then going by her birth name Phyllis Dobson, had a short film career, appearing in eight films from 1934 to 1936 under the name Phyllis Ludwig, most notably in the 1934 fantasy film "The Return of Chandu," starring Bela Lugosi.
