From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.
Danish-American stage and screen actor, and director, Jean Hersholt, born Jean Pierre Carl Buron, appeared in over 140 films from 1924 to 1955. He is perhaps best remembered for starring in the 1937-1954 CBS radio series "Dr. Christian," as well as starring in Erich von Stroheim's 1924 silent film classic "Greed" and the 1937 film "Heidi," in which he played Shirley Temple's beloved grandfather.
