Universal City: Universal Pictures, Circa 1931. Three vintage publicity photographs, including one double-weight photograph, of Merna Kennedy, circa 1931. All three photographs with mimeo snipes on the verso, one with a studio stamp crediting photographer Ray Jones obscured by a piece of paper tape, and one with a provenance stamp on the verso.

From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.

Merna Kennedy began her career as a vaudeville child performer at the age of seven with her brother, and began her career in film at the age of 20, starring opposite Charlie Chaplin in his 1928 film "The Circus." Kennedy appeared in 28 films from 1928 to 1934 before retiring from acting, and was briefly married to choreographer/director Busby Berkeley from 1934-1935.
