Two original Fourth of July publicity photographs, 1940

Universal City: Universal Pictures, 1940. Two vintage Fourth of July publicity photographs, one showing Anne Nagel and Peggy Moran in patriotic attire, the other showing Nagel and Moran with actor Samuel Hinds in costume as Uncle Sam. Mimeo snipe affixed to the verso of one photograph, and Advertising Advisory Council stamp and Ray Jones credit stamp on the verso of the other.

From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early 1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s.
