Based on Charles Major's 1898 novel "When Knighthood Was in Flower," about Mary Tudor, the younger sister of King Henry VIII. The third of Disney's British film productions, following "Treasure Island" (1950) and "The Story of Robin Hood" (1952). Major's novel also served as the basis for two silent film adaptations, one in 1908 and one in 1923.
